“Food….food does sound
good,” Royce started before he moved his hand down to his stomach just before a
grumble issued from it. Loud as usual,
he was a big creature and could eat as much as his size denoted and more,
Alexander felt sorry for whoever got stuck paying for his meals. Alexander on the other hand found little to
think about concerning Royce considering his own stomach was grumbling fitfully
at this point.
Giving no credence to
his companions words, he moved forward striding across the metallic walkway
that was so out of place in their current surroundings.
All of it had been lead out in a hexagon
pattern spreading in front of them; their landing pad had been on the
outskirts, but Alexander had seen it from the sky. Everything was laid out as if it were a child’s
board game. These hexagons stretched upwards in some places, filled with
skyscrapers and high topped buildings with various signs and billboards
declaring for some fast food service or an insurance firm. Alexander’s stomach turned just looking at
them.
“Nothing can remain
local anymore can it?” Alexander posed
to no one in particular though Royce looked at him sullenly for a moment cocking
his head to the side. His commanding
officer never saw the look as he continued to walk along with an absent sense
of purpose. Wandering now, he felt
deprived and empty and just wanted to try something new. Alexander really wanted to throttle someone;
however, he couldn’t shame the company, the same company that saw him from shit
job to shit job.
Their path took them
through a few twisting alleyways, leading them down copy-pasted corridors that
could have been found on any planet and any city. Major corporate sponsors pushed outwards
selling their shitty McBurgers and Starcoffee while the mom and pop places
struggled to make rent. Alexander kept
walking, making his path almost twenty miles.
Royce had abandoned him some time ago to slip into some cheap taco stand
that sent all of his senses tingling.
“The man gorges
himself on slop when he could eat like a king for the same price,” Alexander
murmured angrily, but he couldn’t blame Royce.
As far as he walked just to find somewhere that didn’t seem like a
sell-out was taking him so far out of the way, he began to grow discomforted not
only by his surroundings but also the ache in his legs.
It is just around the
corner, he kept telling himself over and over.
After about fifty corners, he finally found what he was looking
for. It was a tiny place more a hole in
the wall than anything else. A stand had
been cut into the side of a building having decorated the entrance in a more
traditional sense for the planet. The
stand was decorated from wood and the chairs about the place were all hand
carved as well with cushions that looked to have been like wise. Just smelling the air set Alexander’s mouth
to watering causing him to swagger up to the bar and sit down on one of the
stools. It creaked under his weight
before the chef behind the counter turned to look at him.
A pair of d-cup
breasts almost hit him as she turned, she wasn’t human that much was for sure
just looking at her. Pale blue skin and
lips the color of deep purple addressed her mouth, her eyes were green all the
way through and glowing lightly while a four fingered hand tapped lightly near
his own. Her body curved in an near hour
glass frame, Alexander was busily examining the curve of her near heart shaped
face before he noticed the black cap on the top of her head.
It reminded him of a
certain someone, but he didn’t make a statement on that and just bit his lip
before watching her tucking a piece of golden hair behind the nub of her
auditory receptors. “You going to order
or keep staring?”
“Umm…” Alexander found himself looking over the menu
for a moment before realizing that he couldn’t read the language that was in
front of him. A few beads of sweat
started to roll down the side of his head before he thought fast.
